We thought you would enjoy seeing this beautiful traditional Thai dance performance performed by Dhammajarinee students. The arts—and especially the traditional Thai art forms of music, singing, dancing, and handicrafts—are an important part of DWS education. These disciplines foster individual talent, as seen in the many awards the school’s students have received in these areas, and simultaneously cultivate students’ appreciation for their rich culture and traditions.
There are four principal forms of Thai classical dance. In this video, the students perform Lakhon, or Thai Classical Dramatic Theatre. Through detailed choreography, elaborate costumes, and accompanying traditional instruments, the dancers depict stories from ancient Thai history and literature.
