We are thrilled to share the good news that two Dhammajarinee graduates recently received the very prestigious Angel Wings Foundation scholarship. This scholarship is given to just 16 high-achieving students in all of Thailand to fund their university education.
Angel Wings Foundation was founded by former Miss Universe and philanthropist Bui Simon to provide vital assistance to underserved Thai children and empower them with the essential gift of education. Bui Simon received the Thai Royal Medal of Honour from King Bhumibol Adulyadej for her work helping underserved children and was named United Nations Goodwill Ambassador of Thailand and addressed the UN General Assembly concerning children’s rights.
The two Dhammajarinee graduates who received this scholarship have bright futures. Thanaporn, pictured top right, just began a six-year program to become a veterinarian. Her goal after graduating is to build a hospital for domestic and wild animals. In addition to her studies, Thanaporn is volunteering at a conservation and animal rescue center that serves elephants, monkeys, jungle cats, and other wildlife. Pawanrat, top left, is majoring in information and communication technology and communication arts. After graduating, her dream is to work as a producer, delivering positive stories through the mediums of film, print media, and advertizing. She also wants to feature her hometown of Nakhon Si Thammarat, one of the oldest cities in Thailand with a rich cultural history. Her goal is to bring greater awareness and support to this special place.
As Bui Simon says, "Every child is an angel and deserves wings to reach their full potential.” We are sincerely grateful to Bui Simon for giving wings to our two Dhammajarinee graduates—supporting them to complete university and fulfill their dreams.
