We are thrilled to share that Acharn Yai has received The International Alliance for Women (TIAW) World of Difference Award in the Education category. This yearly, prestigious award recognizes extraordinary individuals worldwide who have contributed to the economic empowerment of women.
TIAW, founded in 1980, is a global charitable foundation dedicated to fostering an "inclusive economy." TIAW members of over 50,000 professional women actively support a Micro Credit program, capitalizing over 110 "Village Banks" in 24+ developing countries for women to start micro-businesses—lifting themselves and their communities out of poverty.
Through her leadership at Dhammajarinee, Acharn Yai has profoundly contributed to the economic empowerment of over 4,000 young women—who in turn help to break the cycle of generational poverty. At Dhammajarinee, 90% of graduates attend college and all students learn vocational skills for a self-sufficient, empowered future. Everyone at the school is grateful that Acharn Yai has been recognized in this significant way, for her tireless work over three decades to improve the socioeconomic status of underserved young women in Thailand.
